Learning Outcomes


Student mobility abroad is particularly important because the benefits of traveling are many. Through Mobility, students have the opportunity to develop new skills and qualifications that contribute to their personal development. In particular, students are given the opportunity to improve their language skills, develop intercultural skills and integrate into European social and cultural environment. In addition, students moving for internships can gain valuable work experience in an enterprise / organization abroad in subjects that are directly related to the content of their studies. Students are getting familiar with the European labour and research market and understand the skills and requirements needed for a successful career in the European area. In addition, if the traineeship is done at a university or research institute, this period may provide a first step toward postgraduate level studies.

(3) Syllabus


At the beginning of the spring semester every academic year is taking place the announcement of student mobility places for Traineeship. Submission of applications is done electronically on the basis of the instructions contained in the notice. 

The Erasmus+ program provides students the opportunity for a Traineeship period abroad and be funded by a certain amount per month (as a month is 30 days), which varies according to the country of destination. 

The Host organization for the case ‘Traineeship’ is selected by the student provided that the training programme is  related to the student's subject of studies at the Department of Marine Sciences. Host organizations can be enterprises, research centers, training organizations, NGOs and Universities. The duration of the mobility may not be less than 2 months and more than 12 months. 

Selected students should have agreed and signed the Learning Agreement for Traineeships between the University of the Aegean and the Host Institution to ensure the recognition of their period of mobility abroad. 

The forms that must be filled in and submitted to the Erasmus+ Office by the students before the commencement of their mobility, during this period, and immediately after completion are shown in detail on the Erasmus Office website of the University of the Aegean http://erasmus.aegean.gr/el/agean_erasmus_mobility/aegean-erasmus-student-mobility/ 

Indicatively, the following are mentioned: 

During mobility: 

Certification of arrival and registration at the host University/organization. 

Modification of Learning Agreement for Traineeship (completed only in case of changes) 

Weekly Activity Log: Completed during the period of student's traineeship and deposited at the Erasmus office fully signed after the completion of the mobility period. 

Important note: Any change should be made after contacting the departmental Erasmus Coordinator as well as the Erasmus+ Office. 

After the end of the mobility, the participant must submit to the Erasmus+ Office and the departmental Erasmus Coordinator the following: 

1. Certificate of Departure from thereceiving Institution/ Enterprise / Organization. 

2. Traineeship Certificate.

3.DeliverableReportof the Traineeship (Determined in co-operation with the Departmental Erasmus Coordinator before the commencement of the Traineeship period). 

4. An EU Survey. It will be completed within 30 calendar days of receiving the request for completion.

Student Performance Evaluation:

Note: The workload calculation is indicative as it is referred to a 2-month mobility duration. The ECTS that correspond to the total workload of the Practical Exercise appear at the Diploma Supplement. However, only 5 ECTS are taken into account for awarding the original Diploma and the final grading. 

The student returning from the traineeship period is required to submit (within one month) the ‘Deliverable Report’ of the Traineeship, on the basis of which it is evaluated by the Departmental Erasmus Coordinator. In addition, particular emphasis is given to the written evaluation report of the student complemented by the host responsible.
