    Research

My research interests focus on coastal erosion/flooding and coastal morphodynamics/engineering (with emphasis on development/application of tools/models); coastal sediment transport and hydrodynamics processes; assessing the climate impacts on the natural and socio-economic coastal environment, with particular emphasis on the resilience of beaches (the foundation of 3S tourism), the connected transport infrastructure (e.g. ports, airports) and coastal assets to environmental pressures, climate change and climate extremes; coastal zone and touristic beach management. I am Principal investigator of the research project "MARICC: Methodological framework for the Assessment and monitoring of the erosion Risk of touristic Island beaches under Climate Change" and I have taken part in many research projects (e.g. AKTAIA, THALES-ISLA, BEACHTOUR, and ERABEACH) and authored/co-authored more than 40 publications in international journals and conferences.

    Teaching

On the undergraduate level I teach the courses: (i) Coastal Morphodynamics and Engineering (lectures, laboratory sessions in programming environment, notes, grading) (ii) Sediment Dynamics (lectures, notes, grading)

On the postgraduate level I participate (lectures, laboratory sessions in programming environment, notes) to the teaching of the courses: (i) Coastal Geo-Hazards (ii) Coastal Zone Management

    Professional activities

As a member of the "Coastal Morphodynamics-Managment and Marine Geology Laboratory", I am involved in applied projects related to e.g. beach erosion risk assessment, climate change impacts on coastal environments and infrastructures etc.

I have also been consultant for UNCTAD within the framework of the research project “Climate change impacts on coastal transport infrastructure in the Caribbean: Enhancing the adaptive capacity of Small Island Developing States (SIDS)”; and principal author of the technical report of the national case study for Saint Lucia (https://sidsport-climateadapt.unctad.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Case-study_Saint-Lucia.pdf)
