    The Department of Marine Sciences is the nation's only academic institution that offers Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degrees in Oceanography. Our Department maximizes the public's investment in education through active collaborations with international and national partners, and is committed in promoting applied, but economic relevant, science for marine conservation & resource sustainability.

    Our Department offers unequaled access to marine education via a high quality study program that combines classical oceanography courses with a wide variety of specialised modules, as well as field and laboratory workshops. Our graduates are able to apply a good knowledge of oceanography and its applications, and have a working knowledge of:

    Postgraduate studies in Marine Science

    An investment in postgraduate education is a life-changing decision that will affect our students' future career prospects. DMS offers two mature and focused postgraduate M.Sc. courses in Coastal zone management and Biodiversity conservation, as well as Ph.D. studies in several marine research fields.

    Research

    Next to its academic activities, The Department of Marine Sciences conducts research in several subjects related to the marine environment, including climate change, ecosystem functioning and health, marine biology and ecology, fisheries, aquaculture and marine resources, while at the same time contributes to the international oceanographic community with new instruments, software, and methods.
