Ph.D. candidate position
Title: Integrated Coastal Zone Management: mitigation of conflict in the era of global change and the role of local knowledge
Short description: Intensive human activities in the Mediterranean coastal zones cause environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) aims to resolve conflicts towards sustainability and economic growth. Since the Mediterranean Sea is going to be disproportionately affected by global change, new tools for ICZM have to be developed. In this situation, the role of local knowledge is substantial.

Applicants are required to have a very good command of English (minimum level of C1). Knowledge of Greek is desirable but not required.
-
For applicants to be eligible they must comply with the following Marie Curie Grant rules:
-
H2020 MSCA Mobility Rule: Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host organization (Greece) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date. H2020 MSCA ESR eligibility criteria: Candidates must be, at the date of recruitment by the host organization, in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree. Throughout the program, the appointed candidates will be hosted by the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of the Aegean. The selected candidate might opt to be seconded to one of the research locations agreed upon by the MEDiverSEAty project consortium, for which length of stay and location shall be agreed upon and endorsed by the supervisory team. The candidates will also be expected to attend several multi-disciplinary research-related scientific courses as well as summer schools, winter schools, and skills workshops. These will be organized by the MEDiverSEAty project partners.
