The following guidelines provide a brief reminder of the key obligations while using the Computer lab facilities.

First and foremost, please use common sense, and bear in mind that there are faculty and students nearby who are trying to get work done. Keep the noise down, and try not to disturb those who are trying to study, prepare lessons, and maintain office hours.

Don'ts

  • No smoking.
  • No food or drinks.
  • No cell phones.
  • Don't install any application software whatsoever.
  • Don't disconnect or modify any machine, either PC or peripheral equipment.
  • Don't disconnect network cables in order to connect them to another PC.
  • Don't shout across the room to another colleague, and do not listen to music through the speakers.
  • Don't connect your personal laptop machine in places other than designated.
  • Don't try to repair any machine.
  • Don't use the Computer lab's facilitites to access obscene material.
  • Don't let anyone else use your accounts or tell anyone your password.

Do's

  • Log-out of computer systems when you have finished using them.
  • Keep the Computer lab premises clean and tidy: pickup and recycle all scratch paper, place all clutter in the trash, and push your chair back under the table or computer counter.
  • Place backpacks under the table or computer counters, and keep aisles clear for foot traffic at all times.
  • Contact the IT Service Administrator desk if you notice any kind of machine malfunction.
  • If you find that a system is not in good working condition, do not use it, but contact the IT Service Administrator desk immediately.
  • Only use the IT facilities provided for purposes relating to your study, research or work at the University.
  • Use print outs sparingly, and recycle all scratch paper.

Thank you for helping us maintain a friendly working environment.
