Setting up your E-mail account
The Department of Marine Sciences provides a user account and a respective E-mail address for all students, faculty and staff members. DMS and University of the Aegean service desks may use this email address to inform you of important announcements such as emergency closings or event announcements.
User account
The username for undegraduate and M.Sc. students is composed of the prefix mar and marm respectively, followed by five numbers of their student ID code. For example, an undegraduate student with an ID 191/12345 is assigned the username mar12345 and the E-mail address mar12345@marine.aegean.gr.
Faculty, staff members and Ph.D. candidates are encouraged to contact the IT Service Administrator desk for further customisation of their user accounts.
Activating your user account
Your account's temporary password is by default 1@Marine, which you will be automatically requested to change the first time you log-in. Your new password must contain a minimum of eight (8) characters, among which there must be at least one (1) capital letter, one (1) number, and one (1) symbol. Note that your password must also not contain elements of your login name in any form i.e. capitalised, doubled, etc.
Your password is strictly condidential and protects your account from unauthorised use, hence it should never be disclosed to anyone else.
Your E-mail is in the form of username@marine.aegean.gr, and can be accessed via the Department's webmail address http://webmail.aegean.gr. Webmail is accessible anywhere through web and/or various software, however users working outside the university network may have to install this digital security certificate.
