Using mobile devices

You are welcome to use your personal laptop PC in the Computer lab's designated areas. Wireless internet connection is also available, for using with your laptop or another compatible mobile device.

Prerequisites

In order to have access to the wireless service:

• you will need a valid account on the University network.

• you will need to be iside the range of the wireless access point

• your device should support one of the wireless protocols 802.11a,b,g

Wireless network connection guide

The following guide cover the basic steps to connect a wireless device to the wireless Campus network. Keep in mind that some services might not be fully functional with specific mobile devices (ie. mobile phones).

• Scan for wireless networks, using the appropriate tool of the mobile device you whant to connect with. Provided you are in range, a wireless network with SSID (network name) campus-wifi should be detected. Connect to campus-wifi.

• After a successful connection, and in order to gain full access, you'll need to open a browser and try to navigate to a destination of your choise (ie. http://www.mar.aegean.gr).

• This will lead you to an account authentication page, where you will be requested to enter your (UOA) username and password. Upon successful verification of your account, you will have full access to the Internet and the Uniersity IT services.
