    Research

    Sediment Dynamics. Coastal morphodynamics, and beach erosion and vulnerability to climatic changes/extreme events. Anthropogenic effects on coasts. Effects of climatic changes on the transportation infrastructure. Recent sedimentary processes in coastal to deep water environments. Seismic stratigraphy. Marine aggregate resources. Sea level changes during the Quaternary. Marine environmental law and impact assessment.

    Teaching

    Undergraduate level (lectures, tutorials and lab exercises): Marine Geology, Coastal Geology.

    Postgraduate level (lectures, tutorials and lab exercises): Coastal Geo-Hazards, Policies and Regulation for Coastal Management.

    Professional activities

    As a member of the "Group of Coastal Morphodynamics-Management and Marine Geology" and within the framework of my academic duties, I am involved in applied projects related to e.g. coastal morphodynamics, the effects of climatic changes on coastal environments and infrastructure etc. Scientific expert for UNEP, UNECE and WWF. National (Greek) representative in UN meetings. Contributing author in the IPCC-SREX 2012 report (Chapters 3 & 4).
